Free Land Based Wildlife Tours!
Join The Whale Museum for the last of their free Land Based Wildlife Tours of San Juan Island. Tours will take place Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 pm through September 4. The three-hour trips begin at The Whale Museum where a trained and certified naturalist will escort you via shuttle to the west side of San Juan Island.

Joint Alaska Airlines/Kenmore Air San Juan Islands Itineraries Now Bookable Online
Travelers wishing to fly between the San Juan Islands and any of more than 90 Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico can now make single-ticket bookings at http://www.alaskaair.com/. The activation of online booking of such itineraries is the final phase of an interline partnership between Kenmore Air and Alaska Airlines that was first launched in April 2010.

Friday Harbor Airport's September Runway Paving Schedule
Friday Harbor Airport has revised their runway paving / temporary closure schedule for September, redirecting flights to Roche Harbor during that time. Runway 16/34 will be closed from Tuesday, September 7 at 8:00 p.m. until Friday morning, September 10 at 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

New Restaurant and Remodeled Spa for Rosario Resort's 50th Anniversary
EASTSOUND, WASH. (May 28, 2010) - After closing in 2008 and running limited services in 2009, Rosario Resort & Spa, located on 30 acres of waterfront on Orcas Island in the scenic San Juan Islands, has fully reopened for guests. The resort has been offering waterfront guest accommodations on weekends since February, but is now open full time with a refurbished spa and a new chef-owned restaurant called "The Quilted Pig."

San Juan County Park Boat Launches Require Training & Permits
New for this year, boaters need to obtain a permit and attend a brief training session before launching any vessel from San Juan County Park. The training, which covers the laws protecting killer whales and other marine wildlife, and the laws and guidelines for responsible boating within the San Juan County Marine Stewardship Area, was developed in association with the Whale Museum's Soundwatch program.

The Dirigo II has returned to the Pacific Northwest as the new flagship for San Juan Classic Day Sailing in Friday Harbor. The Dirigo II is available for charter in Friday Harbor, including half, full and multiday sails. She joins her sister ship, the Iris, a 42-foot Alden Cutter also available for charter.

Artstock Artist at Waterworks Gallery

Stephen will educate us as to the processes involved in creating the aquatint etchings inspired by his drawings and photographs.
