Washington State's newest Scenic Byway is the San Juan Islands Scenic Byway, designated in April 2008.
The Byway is divided into three segments: the first one-third is the marine highway route between Anacortes and the San Juan Islands traveled aboard a Washington State Ferry, the second one-third is a driving tour around San Juan Island, and the last third is a driving tour on Orcas Island.
Our new State Scenic Byway is overflowing with natural beauty, history, arts and culture. You'll find detailed driving tours for each island to the left, or find out how you can take a road trip on our scenic byway this summer without your car!
While Lopez Island is not part of the official Scenic Byway, it has many beautiful areas to explore as well.
