"Island time" means reconnecting with nature.

When you're on "island time," you hike to appreciate nature and the stunning views. You find a peaceful place to picnic, to share a story with a friend, or meditate in the stillness. "Island time" means reconnecting with yourself and with the world around you.

"Island time" means spending quality time with those you love.

Taking time to listen, to share, and to fully enjoy someone's company is part of San Juan Islands living. Have you ever completed a puzzle on the inter island ferry with a friend? Read your favorite book aloud to your family? Being on "island time" means sharing laughs, creating lasting memories, and investing in those we love. How many of these activities can you do at home?

"Island time" means trying and learning new things.

Living on "island time" is a chance to be creative - to embrace your inner artist, athlete, or scientist. Many artists flock to the San Juans for inspiration - have you ever taken a painting or pottery class? How do you create art? The Islands are an outdoor playground for adventure enthusiasts and a classroom for curious minds. With kayaking, sailing, hiking and more, the Salish Sea can challenge you. With killer whales, soaring eagles, and mischievous foxes, the Islands are full of fascinating critters to learn about and protect.  How can you keep your body and mind active at home?

"Island time" means practicing self care.

Self care means different things to different people. It can be nourishing your body with healthy, locally-grown foods. The Islands are known for their vibrant farmers markets and fresh seafood. Self care be taking care of your body by exercising, stretching when you're sore, or resting when you're tired. Draw a bath and light a candle for your own spa experience at home. Practice yoga or mediate to start or end your day, and listen to what your body and soul need.

"Island time" means slowing down and appreciating the little things.

In the San Juan Islands, life moves a little slower. Locals stop to chat with neighbors, shop owners, and passersby. Hours are spent strolling a pebbled beach, gazing in tide pools, and watching for wildlife. There's always time for a story, a word of encouragement, or a moment of gratitude to appreciate what we have. There's a peace in the Islands - have you felt it? What are you thankful for? How can you find peace in your daily life?
