Originally a mercantile, the oldest building still standing in Friday Harbor was called the Saloon Best, and by 1894 was known for an excellent pool table and a collection of domestic and foreign liquors. In the 1930s, it became a Moose Lodge, a center of island social life, especially when the fishing fleet was in. All-night festivities, known as "fishermen dances," rocked the house until dawn.
Currently, the Arcade Building houses several businesses, including Island Group Sotheby's International Realty, the Blue Water Bar & Grill, and the Gourmet Galley, a kitchen store selling natural and specialty foods, kitchen tools, and more.
