The lore, the legends, and the facts. Come experience island history for yourself at the San Juan Historical Museum. Located on the former James and Adeline King farmstead which dates from the 1880s. The museum campus consists of the original farmhouse, carriage house, root house, and milk house. Additional heritage structures include the first San Juan County jail, a settler log cabin, and the new Museum of History and Industry. We maintain an extensive collection of historical artifacts, documents, and photographs which showcase the history of San Juan Island.
The museum is open year-round for self-guided tours Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Admission is $10 per adult person, $5 student/youth (6-17) under 5 free, and families (limit 4) $25. Guided tours are available and must be reserved in advance. Guided tours last approximately one hour and are led by a staff member or volunteer well-versed in island history. Fees for guided tours begin at $40. Please inquire for addition details.
Directions: Follow Spring Street just past Friday Harbor Suites and take an immediate right on Price Street. The museum is one-half block on your left past St. Francis Church. Enter the Etta Egeland Resource Center.
