At 7.7 square miles, Shaw is a jewel of the San Juans, and its 60-acre County Park is a little-known pearl. An easy two miles from the ferry, you’ll find 11 wooded campsites overlooking the water. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, picnic facilities, and a boat launch area. (Bring water with you between September and May.) Before you head out for a day or a weekend in this serene setting, consider stocking up on last-minute food and supplies at the general store at the ferry landing—it’s the only one on the island.
