Alchemy Art Center: Clay Luminaries (2 Fridays)

In this 2-day class, we will be hand-building clay luminaries - a perfect way to create handmade art for Halloween. We will make use of the slab roller and coil-building techniques to create a form that can hold tea candles to illuminate it from the inside. On the second day we will use different tools to cut out shapes and patterns so that the light and shadow your piece casts are completely unique.

For part one, we meet on Friday 9/20 from 6-9pm. We will build our luminaries and learn various hand-buidling techniques.

For part two, we meet on Friday 9/27 from 6-9pm. This will give our clay the chance to partially dry, making it easier to carve designs out from it.

This class is held in the clay studio in the main art building on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to ensure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are experimenting with offering sliding-scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets helps us continue to invest in programming. Full-price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full-price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding-scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.

Tuition Assistance: In addition to sliding scale tickets, we also offer tuition assistance for all Alchemy classes. Apply for tuition assistance here.
