Orcas Center’s Visual Arts Committee (VAC) is excited to present an art opening on Friday, March 21st from 5:30pm – 7pm with featured artist, Peter Olesen in the lobby, and a community show with the theme of "Elements" in the Madrona Room. “Landscape photography is my way of engaging with the earth by observing, witnessing and interpreting how light brings the forms of earth to life. I never look so closely at the world as when I have a camera in hand. Printing the images later in the darkroom with an antiquated process reengages me with the subject in an intimate way. Black and white images seem to distill the subject to its simplest texture, form and essence. Having spent more than 50 years chasing the light, trying to perfect my craft and refining my style, I still feel there is much more to learn and do.
