Live Music and Poetry: “Twelve Songs for Twelve Poets”

Join the Friday Harbor Film Festival for “Twelve Songs for Twelve Poets,” an evening where music and poetry unite to celebrate the timeless connection between verse and melody. This 75-minute performance features twelve Spanish-language poems, translated into English and recited by Anthony Geist (University of Washington), then sung in their original language by Paco Díez, a Spanish musician and philologist. The repertoire spans poets from Spain, Latin America, and U.S. Hispanics, as well as a Ladino poet. Featured Poets Include:Luis García Montero, Antonio Machado, Rafael Alberti, Federico García Lorca, Ada Limón, Rosario Castellanos, and more. Experience the beauty of poetry and music as they transcend cultures and centuries, offering a moving tribute to these great poets. Admission is free (donations appreciated).
