"I became a farmer here in the San Juans a long time ago because of the community and just the raw beauty," says Lori Ann. "And I definitely think the slower pace here adds to the quality of the food."
The San Juan Islands have been farmed since the mid-1800s and farmers here are proud to continue that natural, organic tradition.
The San Juan Islands are definitely a gourmet archipelago. "We’ve developed incredible relationships with chefs who really like to artfully prepare nutritious, beautiful food," says Lori Ann. "The farmers markets here in the islands are exciting, beautiful, fun abundant. And you can find almost anything."
Lori Ann calls the food in the islands "first source." Island Grown food is raised sustainably by farmers who care about the environment and the community here. The San Juans are definitely a destination for people who love good, fresh food.
Lori Ann has been a farmer in the San Juan Islands for years. "There's no place else I’d want to do it," she says.
